WELCOME TO
Lisbon Legal Fundamentals

Lisbon Legal Fundamentals (LLF) is a research cluster within the Lisbon Public Law Research Centre, based at the University of Lisbon School of Law. Its primary aim is to promote research and academic debate on the fundamental questions of law, building on its roots in Analytical Legal Theory and Legal Philosophy.

LLF brings together scholars working across Legal Theory, Legal Philosophy, Constitutional and Legal Reasoning, Logic, Language, Epistemology, Metaphysics, Ethics, Philosophy of Mind, Cognitive Science, and AI & Law. This broad intellectual scope reflects the cluster’s commitment to exploring the foundations of law from different but complementary perspectives.

We combine a strong local academic community with an expanding international network of researchers and partner institutions, promoting collaborative research and academic exchange through joint projects, lectures, workshops, conferences, and visiting research.

LLF welcomes proposals for research visits from scholars at all stages of their academic careers, particularly those working in areas related to the cluster’s research interests. Visits may range from short research stays to longer periods of academic residence. Visiting researchers are encouraged to take part in the intellectual life of the cluster and engage with its members and activities.

To keep up with our latest research, events, and initiatives, subscribe to the LLF mailing list.
