Synopsis

This special issue examines the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and its role in advancing the European Union's transition to a circular economy. Moving beyond traditional waste management, the ESPR places sustainable product design at the centre of EU environmental policy, promoting durability, repairability and resource efficiency throughout the product life cycle. The contributions analyse the Regulation's legal foundations, regulatory mechanisms and practical implications, offering critical perspectives on one of the most significant recent developments in EU environmental law.
