Event Description
The workshop "Litigating Climate Change In International Courts: A Comparative Lens" offers room for a cross-cutting discussion between speakers and the audience, using a comparative lens, with a particular focus on the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of The Sea, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the European Court of Human Rights, and the Court of Justice of the European Union. Each panel includes experts with a different background and focus. Join us in Lisbon or online on October 25th.

Thalia Viveros-Uehara
Thalia serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher with TransLitigate at Tilburg University, Netherlands. Her research focus encompasses the socio-legal dynamics of climate change, large-scale land transfers, and pollution litigation concerning extractive industries. With a foundation in law, Thalia's expertise is grounded in international environmental, climate change, and human rights law. She earned her Master's Degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and secured a diploma from the European University Institute. She holds a doctoral degree in global inclusion and social development from the University of Massachusetts Boston, with a special emphasis on environmental health and vulnerability. Before venturing into academia, Thalia accumulated years of invaluable experience, working alongside international and local legislators, policymakers, and ombudspersons in Mexico, the US, and the UK. Her work primarily centered on tackling pressing issues in her areas of specialization. Currently, Thalia is also affiliated with the Centre on Law and Social Transformation at Bergen University in Norway. Furthermore, she is set to become a project-affiliated researcher for the Global Health and Rights Project at the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School.
