Event Description

On 18 November 2026, the Lisbon Environmental Law Cluster will host, at the University of Lisbon School of Law, the “Marine Biodiversity: Emerging Challenges in a Changing Ocean” Conference. Bringing together scholars and practitioners, this international conference will examine the legal challenges of protecting and restoring marine biodiversity amid growing environmental pressures and competing ocean uses. Four panels will explore jurisdiction and governance, restoration and the blue economy, climate change, and the role of courts and compliance mechanisms in translating commitments into effective protection.
