Bio
Bruno Bueno Assalin is a Researcher at Lisbon Public Law and a PhD candidate in Law, specializing in Legal and Political Sciences, at the University of Lisbon School of Law.
Graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law at Mackenzie Presbyterian University (São Paulo/Brazil) and with a Master’s degree in Law – specializing in Legal and Political Sciences with a mention in Constitutional Law – from the Faculty of Law at the University of Coimbra, he is also postgraduate in Fundamental Rights from IBCCRIM/Instituto Ius Gentium Conimbrigae (IGC) – Human Rights Center at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, and in Human Rights from the Institute Ius Gentium Conimbrigae (IGC) – Human Rights Center at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra.
He has a particular interest in the intersectional study of Constitutional Law and the Philosophy of Law and State, especially concerning the issues of grounding and maintaining the legitimacy/authority of constitutional systems, their assumptions and boundaries in relation to the historical and cultural realities they are embedded in, as well as their necessary connection with the constitutional construction processes carried out by Constituted Powers; predominantly adopting analytical perspectives from Hartian-Razian positivism and the structured empiricism of Scandinavian realism.
