"The publication of this book follows on from the partnership between the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and the Water and Waste Services Regulatory Authority, which had already resulted in the publication of the technical book on Water Law in 2013. Naturally, more than a decade on from the previous publication, the texts focus on new themes, without prejudice to revisiting subjects that have already been dealt with, according to the current institutional, social or legal reality. In line with the previous edition, we have endeavoured to preserve interdisciplinarity by including texts with a perspective that is not strictly legal.

The publication of this book would not have been possible without the support of the Water and Waste Services Regulatory Authority, and so a fair thank you is due to its Board of Directors. We hope that it will contribute to the launch of new reflections on the operation of public water services and the protection of water resources."
