Atualidade | Alteração ao Estatuto do TJUE

observatorio de justica

The Official Journal of the European Union today published an amendment to the Statute of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), which provides for the partial transfer of the Court of Justice's preliminary ruling jurisdiction to the General Court in six specific areas: the common VAT system, excise duties, the Customs Code, tariff classification of goods, compensation and assistance to passengers in case of denied boarding, delay, or cancellation of transport services, and the greenhouse gas emissions trading system.

This reform aims to optimize the workflow of the Court of Justice in the preliminary ruling domain and to ensure that it can continue to fulfill its mission of ensuring respect for the law in the application and interpretation of the Treaties within reasonable timeframes.

The implementation of this reform of the European Union's judicial architecture will cover preliminary questions submitted from October 1, 2024, onwards.
