Bio
Maria Luísa Duarte is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where she received her doctorate and where she develops her research and teaching career. Her academic interests lie in the areas of European Union Law, Public International Law and Fundamental Rights, areas in which she stood out in the national panorama of public law teaching and research. In terms of research, Maria Luísa develops her activity on various European themes such as European administrative law, fundamental rights, freedom of movement within the European space, the system of division of competences between Member States and European institutions and also Law of European Union Litigation. Outside the academic field, she was a legal consultant for the Directorate General for European Affairs and participated as an agent of the Portuguese State or as a business consultant in numerous cases before the Court of Justice and the General Court of the European Union. She was an advisor to the Portuguese representation at the International Court of Justice, Portugal v. Australia, regarding the case of Timor-Leste. She has a vast and diverse published work.
