Bio

Cláudio Monteiro is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he received his doctorate, and main researcher at the respective Center for Research in Public Law (CIDP). He is also a Judge of the Supreme Administrative Court. He was a Judge of the Constitutional Court. He was also Scientific Advisor and Professor at the Faculty of Law of Bissau, in Guinea-Bissau (2013-2016) and Guest Professor at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning at the University of Lisbon (2011-2013), having also taught several undergraduate courses, postgraduate and master's degrees in the fields of spatial planning and urbanism in other higher education institutions, namely the Instituto Superior Técnico, the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto and the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Both in his teaching and scientific research activities he is predominantly dedicated to Urban Planning Law, Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, Real Rights and the History of Law. He is a member and former President of Ad Urbem – Association for the Development of Urban Planning and Construction Law, and a member of the Portuguese Association of Urban Planning Law. At an international level he belongs to the International Academic Association on Law, Planning and Property Rights.
