Bio
João Miranda is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences (ICJP) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he obtained his doctorate in urban planning law. Specialised in this area, he also maintains a strong research and teaching agenda in the areas of administrative and environmental law. In parallel with his academic activity, he is a lawyer and legal consultant. Among other functions, he was a representative of the Portuguese State in the Group of Experts that worked alongside the Human Rights Committee of the Council of Europe and was responsible for drafting the European Convention on access to public documents. He was deputy to the Cabinet of the Secretary of State of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the XIII Constitutional Government, Advisor to the Secretary of State for Spatial Planning and Nature Conservation of the XIV Constitutional Government and Deputy to the Cabinet of the Minister of the Presidency of the XVII Constitutional Government. He has published several titles of scientific relevance, such as the book “O papel da Assembleia da República na construção europeia” and the articles “Património cultural e património ambiental” and “A função pública urbanística e o seu exercício por particulares”.
