Direito Internacional Público e ordem jurídica global do séc. XXI (Public International Law and global legal order of the 21st century. XXI)

The work «Public International Law and Global Legal Order of the 21st Century», authored by Professor Maria Luísa Duarte, is a teaching book for the subject of Public International Law aimed at undergraduate and master's students of Law courses and International Relations. Public International Law is the legal status of the international community. Challenged by serious violations of international law resulting from the use of force and violation of human rights, how can International Law overcome the relevance of the existential question regarding its effectiveness as a legal order? The jusinternacionalista is required to identify the applicable rule, but also to justify its nature as a legal norm. In this sense, the foundation of International Law is social, contractual and rational: States and other international subjects comply because they must and not because they want to.

This is a work that falls within the scope of research carried out in the Research Group on International and European Law (IEL).
