The long-awaited\u00a0judgement\u00a0of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Case C-333\/21 \u2013\u00a0European Super League Company\u00a0has finally arrived, accompanied by two other cross-referential decisions (here\u00a0and\u00a0here). The first analyses are beginning to surface (e.g., this excellent take by Stephen Weatherill,\u00a0here), and there is a lot to unpack, especially with respect to\u00a0developments in competition law. Constitutional lawyers will, however, find particular interest in how the Grand Chamber dismissed Advocate General Rantos\u2019 pitch for constitutional recognition of the European sports model\u00a0based on Article 165 TFEU. This post focuses on this aspect of the\u00a0European Super League\u00a0judgment.
