Os exemplos surpreendentemente diversos do que \u00e9 considerado vago na literatura revelam que isto ainda \u00e9, em grande medida, pouco claro. Argumentar-se-\u00e1 que esta falta de clareza \u00e9 o resultado da defini\u00e7\u00e3o lim\u00edtrofe prevalecente de imprecis\u00e3o. Esta defini\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 certamente pict\u00f3rica mas, na maioria das suas formula\u00e7\u00f5es, carece de precis\u00e3o. O objetivo deste artigo n\u00e3o \u00e9, portanto, resolver sorites ou eliminar a imprecis\u00e3o, mas fornecer um crit\u00e9rio vi\u00e1vel para identificar predicados vagos, o que parece ainda mais indispens\u00e1vel no direito onde a imprecis\u00e3o implica discricionariedade.
